Educators must create learning experiences that utilize best practices and the client’s narrative to foster a holistic approach for care. The following concepts: (1) ecological, social, and structural determinants of health, (2) person-centered and system awareness, (3) sense-making, and (4) trauma and violence-informed care will be highlighted as curricular priorities.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explain one advantage and one challenge of using a standardized clinical decision-making model to facilitate safe, competent, ethical, and compassionate nursing students
- Articulate one benefit and drawback of integrating a "person-centred and system awareness" approach in nursing education
- Describe one component of each of the following: a) ecological, b) social, and c) structual determinants of health and d) a trauma and violence-informed care lens
- Respond to an unfolding case study using the Cynefin Sense-Making framework
- Suggest three strategies faculty could adopt to future proof nursing education
