My abstract focuses on quality improvement initiative in acute care setting to address the public health challenge of venous thromboembolism ((VTE) postoperatively. Ineffective nursing communication and failure to follow practice guidelines contribute to the incidence of VTE. The Gemba board and huddle is an evidence-based intervention that could optimize outcomes.
