Best practices for care of patients having bowel surgery were implemented. Patient outcomes were compared before and after implementation of the fast-track program. There were significant decreases in length of stay, time post-op until first up in chair, time to first ambulation, time until Foley catheter removed, and time until first clear liquid meal.
