<p>Understanding the feelings, perceptions and attitudes of emergency department (ED) nurses who worked on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic is essential for the growth and resilience of the healthcare workforce. This webinar will explore lived experiences of ED nurses, from graduate to Nurse Unit Manager, with lessons learnt from 2020 to 2022.</p>

<p>This webinar demonstrates the process by which experienced Registered Nurses adapt and respond to a pandemic emergency, by implementing skills in care coordination, home safety assessments, patient education and caregiver support. Utilizing the transitional care model, Nurses implemented an effective and low-cost telephone-based approach, by assessing, coordinating, and evaluating patient needs, and making appropriate referrals when indicated.</p>
<p>Learning Outcomes:</p>
<p>1. Create an action plan within your facility to deal with an emergent event, utilizing the Coordinated Transitions of Care (C-TraC) model.</p>
<p>2. Develop an algorithm for nurse implementation when caring for patients’ with COVID- 19.</p>

<p>Discussion and demonstration of creative teaching strategies and tools utilized for remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. These strategies allowed for instructional consistency in promoting hands-on deliberate practice to build familiarity and comfort with specific nursing skills while maintaining the rigor expected from an accredited School of Nursing.</p>
<p>Learning Outcomes:</p>
<p>1. Understand steps taken to develop effective virtual deliberate hands-on nursing skills practices and testing experiences to maintain the rigor of face-to-face instruction</p>
<p>2. Recognize practice and testing experiences utilizing a platform such as Zoom™ assit in obtaining required clinical hours per University standards and yield similar results to face-to-face testing</p>
<p>3. Identify the effectiveness of virtual deliberate hands-on nursing skills practices and testing experiences for students who may be unable to attend if appropriate tools are provided</p>

<p>In this webinar, two school nurses discuss the major lessons learned from the challenges of managing the COVID-19 pandemic in school nursing during the 2020-2021 school year. They describe the positive takeaways and identify opportunities for improvement for the 2021-2022 school year, including goals while working during the ongoing pandemic. During the webinar, the presenters compare and contrast two schools in different states—one urban charter school and one suburban special school district (SSD) in a large multi-school district in the United States.</p>
